INFO
We keep a lot of objects not necessarily because they have a certain function but because they are a bridge between the present day and the past. They represent a specific moment, a certain time period or its end. Letters; a little stone from a beach, sugar wrappers, or something you once collected. These things are difficult to throw away because they help us remember.
But the attitude towards keeping and saving is changing. The desire to live with less is rising, as we are getting more mobile and have to adjust ourselves to the smaller spaces we live within.
Is it really necessary, when discarding the objects to also throw away our memories?
Mementos reflects on the way we carry the object-related memories with us without physically keeping the objects. When discarding the objects you sign a contract that states that your objects are carefully documented to then be used in a unique print on textile.
The textiles can be used for multiple purposes and carried anywhere desired. The objects are thrown away but they stay present, and so the mementos remain.
